Childhood Immunization Program

To maintain and enhance immunity of infants and children, Hong Kong Department of Health makes recommendations of ‘Hong Kong Childhood Immunisation Programme (HKCIP)’ to the target group to receive different types of vaccines and boosters to protect them from communicable diseases. However, some fatal diseases are not included in the programme such as Rotavirus, Haemophilus Influenzae Type B, Japanese Encephalitis, etc.

Chiron has designed 3 vaccination packages in hopes of satisfying the different needs of each family.

Why Chiron

Vaccination packages are specially designed, bringing comprehensive protection to child

All of our vaccines are imported from foreign manufacturers to ensure the source and safety

The number of injections, discomfort, pain and side effects by vaccination of child are reduced

Information of Child Immunization

Types of Vaccination

Information

5 in 1 Vaccine & 6 in 1 Vaccine
Both 5 in 1 Vaccine and 6 in 1 Vaccine have adopted non-cellular formula; As a mixed vaccine, the number of injections can be minimized, and thus the discomfort, pain and side effects by vaccination can be reduced as well.

Preventable Virus / Disease:
4 in 1 Vaccine: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio
5 in 1 Vaccine: The above 4 and Hib
6 in 1 Vaccine: The above 5 and Hepatitis B

Remark: If participated in Chiron’s Immunization Program, either 5 in 1 Vaccine or 6 in 1 Vaccine is required to inject, and the injection time is different for 2 vaccines
Rotavirus Oral Vaccine (Rotarix)
Rotavirus Infection is characterised by fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, watery diarrhoea, or even severe dehydration in young children. Rotavirus can be spread by faecal-oral transmission, occur through ingestion of contaminated water or food, or contact with contaminated surfaces.

Rotavirus Oral Vaccine provides protection to children from diarrhoea and severe gastroenteritis caused by Rotavirus.
MMRV Vaccine
MMRV Vaccine can prevent Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chickenpox). As a mixed vaccine, the number of injections can be minimized, and thus the discomfort, pain and side effects by vaccination can be reduced as well.
Pneumococcal Vaccine
Pneumococcal Infection can be spread through droplets via coughing and sneezing, close contact with the patients or contact with materials soiled with the bacteria; Causing non-invasive pneumococcal pneumonia such as Middle Ear Infection, Chest Infection, and invasive pneumococcal pneumonia such as Infection of the Brain Membranes, severe Chest Infection, Infection of the Blood Stream, etc.

Adopting the conjugation technology includes immune memory, Pneumococcal Vaccine provides long lasting protection to children.
ACYW-135 Meningococcal Vaccine (Menactra)
Meningococcal Infection can be spread through droplets via sneezing or coughing, or by direct contact through respiratory secretions from the patients. The bacteria invades the bloodstream or the membranes that envelop the brain and spinal cord could result in Meningococcaemia or Meningococcal Meningitis; Leading to brain damage, intellectual impairment, mental retardation, hearing loss, electrolyte imbalance or even death.

ACYW-135 Meningococcal Vaccine (Menactra) minimizes the risk of Meningococcal Infection and provides protection to the children.
Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine
Japanese Encephalitis is transmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoes, symptoms include headache, high fever, neck stiffness, impaired mental state, coma, tremors, convulsions (especially in children), paralysis or even death.

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccination is safe and effective in preventing the disease and providing protection to children.
Hepatitis A Vaccine
Hepatitis A can be spread through eating contaminated food (especially shellfish), drinking sewage-contaminated or inadequately treated water, or close physical contact with an infected person. Symptoms of Hepatitis A of children include vomit, diarrhoea, fever and jaundice (yellowing discolouration of the skin and sclera of the eyes, dark urine and pale stool).

Hepatitis A Vaccine is essentially an inactivated form of the virus. The vaccination helps on producing antibodies to Hepatitis A.
